MOTS-c (mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c) is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide, MRWQEMGYIFYPRKLR, encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene (MT-RNR1). It is identified by CAS 1627580-64-6.
Choose the size
The 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg vials contain the same peptide in different labeled amounts. Choose by the quantity your work requires; the sequence does not change between sizes.
MOTS-c is a single peptide and is not supplied here in combination with other compounds. Larger vials simply hold more labeled material; they do not imply a different concentration or preparation.
What the research establishes
Lee and colleagues identified MOTS-c as a peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome and studied it in cultured cells and in mice. In cells, they reported that MOTS-c inhibited the folate cycle and linked de novo purine biosynthesis, leading to activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), with skeletal muscle appearing to be its principal target tissue. In mice, MOTS-c treatment prevented age-dependent and high-fat-diet-induced insulin resistance and diet-induced obesity.
These findings concern MOTS-c in cell and mouse models under those experimental conditions, not the performance of this product.
Review the COA and product files
The COA & Documentation page contains the available batch reports and product documentation. Check the lot number and strength, that the sequence reported matches the human 16-residue MOTS-c sequence, the method used to confirm identity (such as mass spectrometry) and the purity method (such as HPLC).
The strengths above describe labeled material, not a measured result for every lot. For handling and storage, consult the records applicable to your specific lot.
