- 50 mg: per vial
5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small-molecule quaternary quinolinium compound, not a peptide. It is supplied as the iodide salt, identified by CAS 42464-96-0.
Choose the size
The 5 mg, 10 mg and 50 mg vials contain the same compound in different labeled amounts. The larger vials do not differ in identity or specification; only the labeled mass changes.
Because 5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule, mass comparisons with the peptide products on this store say nothing about molar equivalence. Molar calculations should use the molecular weight of the iodide salt.
What the research establishes
5-Amino-1MQ is studied as an inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that methylates nicotinamide using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM). Neelakantan and colleagues characterized a series of membrane-permeable methylquinolinium NNMT inhibitors and reported that they did not inhibit related SAM-dependent methyltransferases or NAD+ salvage enzymes. In cultured adipocytes, the inhibitors lowered intracellular 1-methylnicotinamide, raised NAD+ and SAM levels and reduced lipogenesis. In mice with diet-induced obesity, 5-Amino-1MQ reduced body weight, white adipose mass and adipocyte size, with no change in measured total food intake.
These findings concern 5-Amino-1MQ in cultured cells and a mouse model under those experimental conditions, not the performance of this product.
Review the COA and product files
The COA & Documentation page contains the available batch reports and product documentation. Check that the lot number and strength match your vial, how identity was confirmed (for example, mass spectrometry or NMR), the purity method used (typically HPLC) and the salt form reported, since this determines the molecular weight.
The strengths above describe labeled material, not a measured result for every lot. For handling and storage, consult the records applicable to the lot you hold.
