- 10 mg: per vial
SNAP-8 is acetyl octapeptide-3 (INCI: acetyl glutamyl heptapeptide-3), a synthetic eight-residue peptide with the sequence Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH2, acetylated at the N-terminus and amidated at the C-terminus. It is identified by CAS 868844-74-0.
Choose the size
SNAP-8 is offered in a single 10 mg strength. The name refers to the octapeptide described above; it is not the same molecule as acetyl hexapeptide-3 (sometimes sold as Argireline), which is a shorter six-residue sequence. Equal milligram amounts of the two peptides do not correspond to equal numbers of molecules, so molar comparisons require the molecular weight of each.
SNAP-8 is supplied as a single peptide and is not a blend.
What the research establishes
SNAP-8 was designed as an extended analogue of acetyl hexapeptide-3, modelled on the N-terminal region of the neuronal protein SNAP-25. The working hypothesis in the cosmetic-ingredient literature is that peptides of this type compete with SNAP-25 for a position in the SNARE complex, the protein assembly involved in vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter release.
Most of the available information on SNAP-8 comes from ingredient manufacturers’ technical documentation rather than independent peer-reviewed studies, and we have not identified a primary study we can cite with confidence. Statements about its activity should therefore be treated as hypotheses for investigation, not as established properties of this product.
Review the COA and product files
COA & Documentation contains the available batch reports and product documentation. Check the lot number and 10 mg strength, confirm that the mass spectrometry result matches the expected molecular weight of the octapeptide (approximately 1075 Da) rather than the hexapeptide, and note how purity was determined.
The strength above describes labelled material, not a measured result for every lot. For handling and storage, consult the records that apply to your batch.
