Description
Selank 5 mg and 10 mg
Buy Selank 5 mg or 10 mg for laboratory research. Each vial contains the labeled amount of Selank as lyophilized powder.
- 5 mg: per vial
- 10 mg: per vial
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide, Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro (TKPRPGP), consisting of the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) extended at the C-terminus with Pro-Gly-Pro. It is identified by CAS 129954-34-3.
Choose the size
The 5 mg and 10 mg vials contain the same peptide in different labeled amounts. Choose by the quantity your work requires; the sequence does not change between sizes.
Selank should not be confused with Semax, which is listed separately. Both are heptapeptides ending in Pro-Gly-Pro and were developed at the same Russian institute, but Semax is built on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) rather than tuftsin, so the two have different sequences and identifiers.
What the research establishes
Kost and colleagues studied Selank and Semax in vitro using human serum and reported that both heptapeptides inhibited enkephalin-degrading enzymes in a concentration-dependent manner, more strongly than several reference peptidase inhibitors. Pentapeptide fragments of the heptapeptides also inhibited the enzymes, whereas shorter fragments did not.
These findings concern enzyme activity in human serum samples under those laboratory conditions, not the performance of this product.
Review the COA and product files
The COA & Documentation page contains the available batch reports and product documentation. Check the lot number and strength, that the sequence reported is TKPRPGP, the method used to confirm identity (such as mass spectrometry), the purity method (such as HPLC) and any salt form stated in the report.
The strengths above describe labeled material, not a measured result for every lot. For handling and storage, consult the records applicable to your specific lot.
