Description
HCG 5,000 IU and 10,000 IU
Buy HCG 5,000 IU or 10,000 IU for laboratory research. Each vial contains human chorionic gonadotropin as lyophilized powder, labelled by biological activity in international units (IU) rather than by mass.
- 5,000 IU: per vial
- 10,000 IU: per vial
Human chorionic gonadotropin is a heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone made of an alpha subunit, shared with LH, FSH and TSH, and a hormone-specific beta subunit. It is identified by CAS 9002-61-3.
Choose the size
The 5,000 IU and 10,000 IU vials contain the same hormone at different labelled activities. Because HCG is a glycosylated protein whose mass-to-activity relationship depends on its source and glycoform profile, its quantity is expressed in IU against a reference standard. IU values are not directly convertible to milligrams without lot-specific data.
HCG is a large glycoprotein, not a synthetic peptide, and it is unrelated to the short growth hormone-releasing peptides on this store.
What the research establishes
HCG is one of the most extensively studied glycoprotein hormones. It acts on the LH/hCG receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor, and it is the basis of established pregnancy assays and of approved medicines in reproductive endocrinology. Laboratory research uses it in receptor-binding and signalling studies, steroidogenesis models and immunoassay development.
That clinical and assay history concerns pharmaceutical and reference preparations under regulated conditions. It does not describe the properties or performance of this product, which is supplied for laboratory research only.
Review the COA and product files
The COA & Documentation page contains the available batch reports and product documentation. Check that the lot number and labelled activity match your vial, whether the material is recombinant or urinary-derived, the bioassay or reference standard used to assign IU, and any purity or identity methods reported for the protein.
The strengths above describe labelled activity, not a measured result for every lot. For handling and storage, consult the records that apply to your lot.
